The National JMO Day of Dance is coming to Sheffield on Saturday 10 April 2027, hosted by Five Rivers Morris.

We’re really looking forward to welcoming teams from across the country for a fantastic day of dancing in the city.

The JMO will bring dance into Sheffield city centre, making use of the city’s public spaces, indoor venues and strong folk scene.

Alongside the main morris programme, rapper teams will be able to dance in a selection of pre-arranged, friendly pubs and other booked venues, giving sword teams the chance to be part of the weekend while making the most of Sheffield’s pub and session culture.

Make a weekend of it

Although the JMO Day of Dance will be the main event on Saturday, we are also developing plans for activity around it, with more to be announced in due course.

This is likely to include music, singing, sessions, workshops and other folk activity from Friday evening through to Sunday.

We’d love teams to think about staying for the whole weekend, rather than just travelling in for the Saturday.

Accommodation

This will not cost you any more, but will provide a small commission to the city council, which helps us show the impact and benefit of hosting the event.

All activity will be focused around the city centre, so we recommend looking for accommodation with easy access to central Sheffield.

Camping

We are also exploring the possibility of a campsite for the weekend, subject to sufficient interest.

This is only an initial expression of interest to establish viability of a campsite.  The earlier we have indicative numbers, the more likely it is that we can make this work.
